Happy Birthday Kia!!

When our children have birthdays we always put a long post about them.  But we NEVER recognize ourselves.  So, this one is for Kim.  Today is her birthday and I have so many memories I don’t even know where to start.

I am not organized enough to scan in childhood pictures but what a great friend Kim was when we were little.  As good a friend as she was then she is even better now.  I am lucky enough that Kim lives about 3 blocks from me.  How fun!!  Here are some photos from the past few years!

Kim loves to play practical jokes.  Last Christmas she gave Lance these pants!  It was the funniest ever!  You can’t really see but they are sweats, made to look like acid wash 80s jeans!

Kim is SO funny.  I think that partially I believe that because we laugh (as does Jill) at all the same things.   See what I mean!

Kim is the family “planner.”  She organizes all the parties, takes orders for family dinner and keeps us all in line.  We jokingly call her “Val” because the was the Valedictorian (I can’t even spell that word) in College, then went on to get a Ph.D. in Special Education while raising 3 kids!  Can you say Super Woman?

I can’t even began to explain what a help and support she is.  I borrow food from her at all hours of the day, can drop my kids off at a moments notice and always count on a great conversation.

I love that Kim lives so close because our kids get to spend time with each other at church (not always so great if you ask Jord and Sams primary teacher), school and home.

Happy Birthday Kia and thank you!  Thank you for being a great sister, example and for loving my kids like they are your own.  I hope you have the best day ever!  You deserve it!!

Parent Band Night

I love Autumn.  It is by far my favorite season of the year.  I love the leaves, the mountains, football and in the last two years I have fallen in love with Marching Band.   Taesha plays the trumpet in the Sky View Marching Band and I have loved supporting her in that.  The kids are so great and so are the parents!  Tonight was parent band night so the girls and I headed out to Sky View.

At the end of the night family members got to go on the field and march with their students.  That was so fun!!  T did a great job and that is a serious workout!!  I can’t wait for another fun band season!

Jord was pooped by the end of the evening!  Taesha did great and the band looked and sounded awesome!  Thanks T for being such a great and fun part of my life!  I loves you!!

Labor Day 2009

What a wonderful weekend.  We started the weekend in Island Park and saw so many beautiful things.  I had no camera as mine is under repair and Jeff’s was in the mail after being left at Chase’s dorm.  I had never been to Island Park before and absolutely fell in love with the place.

We came home Sunday night to be in Wellsville for the Founder’s Day Celebration.  This is one of my favorite days of the year.  We started by getting up at 6:00 to run.  This year there was a mile kids run which was really fun.  So all in all, Jeff, Taylor (I ran with Taylor), Kim, Shea, Reagan, Samantha (Hunter hurt his foot at the ranch so had to watch), Jill, Lance, Ryker, Hayden and Jer ran either the kids run, the 5K or the 10K.  Have I mentioned that I live in the best place ever?

We had a fun time.  Jeff, Jill,
Reagan and Taylor all ran
personal best times!

Next was off to the parade and Sham Battle.  Most of the kids were involved in the Parade in one way or another.  So fun!! Wellsville is so unique.  If you have never been to the Sham Battle on Founders Day you need to join us!  Here are a few photos to illustrate!  It essentially re-enacts a battle between Cowboys and Indians for land and at the end the Calvary races in to save the day!

After that we all went up to Kim and Shea’s for a BBQ.  What a great day!  Thanks everyone!
