With not such great wisdom I got into a huge household project the week before Labor Day. One might say that is perfect but Labor Day at our house is busy and party time! I finished up our project on Friday right before we headed to Boondocks for Mitchell's birthday! I didn't take any photos but Jeff, Jord, Mitch and myself spent Mitchell's birthday at Boondocks and it was so fun!! The next day (Saturday) I cleaned up my house and put rooms back together.
Taylor had been playing in a 4v4 soccer tournament. The tournament is called Kenton's Cup. Last year it was a fund raiser for her friend Kenton who was battling cancer. He returned to our Heavenly Father last January so his sweet family and friends continued to tournament to raise money for 2 Cache Valley Children who along with their families are battling cancer. I was blessed enough to help a little with some fund raising. What an incredible experience. Every once in a while do you feel like you are bigger than you.. This is how Kenton's cup felt. Lilly was 9 and Parker was 2 and they were both at the tournament watching the kids play soccer. Kenton's family was also there working the ENTIRE time! Such strong, valiant, wonderful people! Every second I spent there was special. This was not at all about soccer and every one there knew it. The girls coached themselves and had a great time.
Taylor is holding Parker, the two other little kids are his cousins. Also in the photo was Lucy, KC, Harry and Will. Taylor cried when she held Parker. He is the same age as Kinnick and she said she just could not image that happening to Kinnick.

Here are the girls who played after the game. We made their shirts and they won best uniform. They are awesome girls who always make me proud. If had been a hard week for me. My entire house was torn apart. There had been a bed in my living room for a week! Those who know me know how I need order! I left that day feeling calm, happy and grateful. Grateful for people like the Reynolds and the Tippets who organized this great event. Grateful for Deb and Luke who put on their brave faces and come out and support all of Kenton's friends. They smile and it just has to hurt to see all those healthy kids running around. But they never let you know. Deb just hugged my Taylor and told her she loved her. Someday I only hope to have a fraction of her strength!!
On Sunday we had Mitchell's family birthday party! I felt so grateful that Mitchy got to be here on his birthday. We had Grandma, Grandpa and all of the cousins over.
This year all of the Grandkids got bean bags from pottery barn. We just painted Mitchy's room red so this color was perfect. Here he is already enjoying it! He is a crack up!
He also got Legos sets from his cousins. From our family he got an Amazon gift card, some Minecraft stuff, an air soft gun and a few lego sets!
Here is Mitchy blowing out his cake. He is such a happy kid. He will start junior high next week and I can't believe it! Time flies and I feel blessed to be a part of his life!
FOUNDERS DAY 2013
Now, if you live in Wellsville Labor Day is a BIG deal! It is probably my favorite day of the year!We start early and party all day. The cannons start rattling the house about 4:30 a.m. We left at 5:10 to help with the race then I ran the race. Boy I am slow!! Kim and Shea ran with Samantha and Reagan. Adam ran with Andrew ran together. Lance and Hunter are so fast they ran on their own! This was the first year Jeff didn't run:( He has plantar facitis (I don't know how to spell that!) so he can't run for a few months! Jill and I ran together, I was keeping our pace the first half of the race but Jill had to basically pull me over the finish line! Thanks to her for going slow with me at the end!! It rained through the entire race but it actually felt good. The problem was that is just kept raining!!
After the race we went straight to the Parade. The Mountainside Youth Leadership group was in the parade. Thanks to Grandpa for driving us in the parade. The rain actually let up for the parade and only started pouring just as we were finishing. We then headed to the Sham Battle, another awesome Wellsville tradition!!
Mountainside Youth Leadership plus Sam and Reag. They girls were also supposed to dance in the parade but because the weather was so bad that was cancelled. So Reag and Mannie hopped on with us!
Seriously? How lucky are these 3 girls? Best Grandpa ever!!!

I love the Wellsville Parade. This is actually a photo Kim took. Since we were in the parade we didn't see it! The walk to the Sham Battle was a down pour. Jeff, Jordan, Reag, Mannie, Grandpa and I didn't have to make the walk! We were just finishing the parade and happened to be in the car going to the sham battle during the down pour. By the time we arrived the rain had stopped!

Another of my favorite parts of Labor Day is that my BFF Angie is from Wellsville so she and her entire family are always in town. We had the best time visiting. She and Aunt Tammy refused to leave this tent! Crack up!
After the festivities we headed back to our house and had dinner and visited all day. It was such a great day and I consider myself blessed to live here! My entire family was here, Jen and Jer (who are building a house in Wellsville! WAHOO!!!!) and Carolyn and Steve all joined in the fun! We had a great afternoon. Thanks to my sweet husband who embraces all of our craziness and loves it! What an incredible day with memories that will last a long time!!!
